Did Juvenile Domestic Violence Offending Change During COVID-19?

The current study castssome of the first light into initial impacts largest global health crisis in a generation on family and domestic violence, long-term repercussions which may take decades to unpack. Statewide trends juvenile arrests for violence (DV)-related offending are examined, taking account school closures in-person learning March 2020 subsequent mandate an option Florida August 2020. Additionally, by sex, race/ethnicity, severity offense examined. Contrasting with growing studies demonstrating increase DV-related among adults, we find significant decrease upon then when schools reopened option. Results held across examined subgroups, yet extent following mandatory availability was not as uniform, Hispanic youth showing smallest Black largest. Implications discussed.
